Harrietsham, the nearby village, has a shop, pub, post office and an Indian restaurant.

Closer to home…

MEET OUR ANIMALS Here at Stable Oak Cottages, we’re home to five alpacas, a pig, horse, chickens, ducks and one very cheeky turkey. Experience the real Kentish countryside when you come and stay with us and our animals, and enjoy getting to know them during your visit. 

LEEDS CASTLE Leeds Castle, known as “the loveliest castle in the world”, has lots to do for the whole family, from discovering the playgrounds and getting lost in the maze, to watching falconry displays and eating at the different restaurants and cafes.

WALKS AND HIKES The North Downs Way is a beautiful 153 mile walk stretching from Farnham in Surrey all the way through Kent to the white cliffs of Dover. To join the North Downs Way path is just a short walk from Stable Oak Cottages, so you can get rambling through the rolling hills of beautiful Kent straight away! FLY FISHING Parkwood Trout Farm is a few minutes’ walk from Stable Oak Cottages, and is open on Thursday to Sunday. They offer fly fishing on their two fishing lakes, and have a farm shop and smokery that sells a range of smoked foods.

HORSE RIDING Maidstone (the county town nearby Harrietsham) boasts a number of local riding schools that offer hacking through the countryside. The nearest to Stable Oak Cottages are:
